Up for sale on eBay is a rare memento from the First National Bank Of Monongahela City. I wonder if it was a premium given away to people for doing business with the bank. This would be a great item to purchase and donate to the Monongahela Historical Society! The eBay ad reads:
This Antique Brass Clip has a great patina. It measures 2 1/2 inches across and a little over 2 1/2 inches from top to bottom. On the front it reads “The First National Bank of Monongahela City, PA.” On the back it was stamped “Premier Metal Etching Co., Advertising Signs & Novelties/Long Island City, N.Y
Here is an old ad for the bank:

The First National Bank Of Monongahela City was located at 318 West Main Street in Monongahela where First Niagra Bank is located today. I believe the building on the right in the postcard image above is the First National Bank of Monongahela building as it appeared in the 1930’s.
[Update 10.4.2011] This FNBMC clip sold for $67 on ebay!

Neat how this survived. Is there any information on the history of the bank?

FNBMC -> Western Pennsylvania National Bank -> Equibank -> Integra -> National City -> First Niagra. At least that’s how I think it goes.
